Camden House Fire Contained Despite Access Issues.

A house fire on Rockbrook Drive in Camden Tuesday afternoon was successfully extinguished despite challenges caused by shrubs obstructing a fire hydrant. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze before it could destroy the home.

According to Camden Fire & Rescue, the structure remains intact but will require thorough cleaning and deodorizing before it is habitable again. Fortunately, the homeowners and their pets are safe. During the rescue, one firefighter sustained a bite from a cat trapped inside the smoke-filled house.

The fire’s cause is under investigation. Initial reports suggest it may have been ignited by rechargeable batteries.

Authorities are reminding Maine residents to ensure that fire hydrants are kept clear of any plants or obstacles. Fire safety codes mandate a 3-foot clearance around hydrants to ensure quick access and visibility in emergencies.
