ELIZABETH — Maintaining a beautiful backyard is a challenge, but keeping an event venue vibrant year-round in Colorado is even more demanding.

Matt Akabane from Hughes Landscaping, in collaboration with the Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado, showcased the behind-the-scenes efforts at Bonnie Blue’s Event Venue in Elizabeth, highlighting how they maintain its pristine appearance.

Choosing the right plants for specific areas is crucial. The landscaping team focused on selecting varieties that bloom from spring through fall.

The plants and landscaping installed across the venue are all water-wise and drought-tolerant. This selection not only reduces maintenance needs but also creates a welcoming habitat for bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies.

Akabane noted that the irrigation system is designed for efficiency, utilizing a drip system with emitters tailored to the water needs of different plants.
