Fall Lawn Care Essential for Spring Success in Rapid City.

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) — As autumn sets in, many people prepare to store away their sprinklers and gardening tools. However, fall lawn care can significantly benefit your garden come spring.

With October nearing its end, many residents continue to harvest their gardens and enjoy blooming flowers, thanks to the warmer-than-usual fall temperatures. But this pleasant weather will soon change.

Tim Sime, the owner of Jolly Lane Greenhouse, emphasizes the importance of watering during this time. He states that providing ample water is crucial for winter survival.

Sime advises that newly planted vegetation requires consistent watering. He adds that even established plants, trees, and lawns will benefit from extra moisture.

“Water every two to three weeks with a 5-gallon bucket, if the ground can absorb it. If temperatures are above 45 degrees, you’re doing well. It’s better for moisture to freeze in the soil, like an ice cube, than for the soil to remain dry,” Sime explains.

For those who want to make the most of the warm fall days, it’s still a great time to plant fall bulbs. Consider planting daffodils, tulips, and garlic for spring blooms.
