Rowson emphasizes the importance of choosing hardy varieties. “When selecting plants for your autumn garden, opt for those that can withstand the drop in temperature,” she advises.

In addition to flowers, gardeners should think about incorporating vegetables such as spring onions, garlic, and winter lettuce. These crops are not only resilient but can also be harvested during the colder months. “Pansies and violas are great choices for adding color to your autumn garden,” Rowson notes. “These bright annuals can handle lower temperatures.”

Autumn weather in the UK can be unpredictable, with alternating wet and dry spells. Although rainfall may seem abundant, it’s crucial to monitor your garden’s moisture levels. Gardeners can easily check soil moisture by feeling the top inch of soil; if it’s dry, it’s time to water.
