Clearfield Students Plant Tulips in Support of Red Ribbon Week.

CLEARFIELD — Last Thursday, twenty-six members of the 5th and 6th grade student council from Clearfield Area Elementary School took to Downtown Clearfield, armed with shovels and gloves, to plant tulip bulbs.

This initiative is part of Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign that promotes drug-free living among students.

Elementary Principal Ken Veihdeffer expressed the goal of the project, stating, “We hope that when our red tulips bloom in the spring, they will remind every student of their pledge to ‘Be kind in their minds’ and to ‘Live Drug-Free.’”

The tulips are being planted in various locations throughout Downtown Clearfield, including tree boxes and Lower Witmer Park.

This year marks an expansion of last year’s efforts, where students planted tulips at their elementary school.
