Utah Freeze Warning: Protect Your Plants as Temperatures Plunge into the Teens

by Anna

Salt Lake City, UT – A freeze warning has been issued for parts of Utah as cold temperatures are expected to arrive early Thursday morning. Areas in lower Washington County, including St. George and Zion National Park, could experience temperatures dropping to around 32°F. Officials are advising residents to take steps to protect plants and outdoor property.

The National Weather Service reports that other valleys in the state will experience even colder conditions. High-elevation areas, including the Wasatch Back, may see temperatures fall into the low teens or even single digits.

The freeze warning, which will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Thursday, warns of potential damage to agriculture and sensitive plants. Residents with outdoor plumbing or irrigation systems are encouraged to take preventive measures.

Low temperatures may harm crops, gardens, and other exposed outdoor items. The National Weather Service suggests covering vulnerable plants and disconnecting garden hoses. Residents in affected areas are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for the cold as winter weather settles across Utah.
