Grandmother’s Gardens Spark Creativity for Portland’s Bicontinental Floral Designer

Portland designer Joy Proctor has always been inspired by nature and diverse cultures. Growing up in Canyonville, Oregon, she spent her summers gardening with her paternal grandparents, while also visiting her birth country of Eswatini in Southern Africa. Despite the vast distance between the two places—10,000 miles apart—the theme of nature has remained constant in her life.

For nearly 20 years, Proctor has worked as a luxury event planner and stylist, with seasonal flowers playing a key role in creating stunning designs.
