The World Horti Center officially opened a new international hub in Ji’Nan, China, marking a significant step in connecting Dutch horticultural companies with China. This hub serves as a local platform aimed at supporting Dutch firms in China and fostering closer ties between the Chinese and Dutch horticultural ecosystems.
The opening ceremony was led by Dutch Ambassador André Haspels and Vice-Governor of Shandong Province, Chen Ping. The event was attended by over 20 representatives from Dutch partner companies in the Food & Flower industry, along with nearly 60 Chinese horticultural entrepreneurs.
Following the ceremony, a matchmaking event brought together Chinese companies from Shandong with Dutch firms. Both sides presented their visions and innovations, promoting collaboration and exchange.
The Netherlands is internationally recognized for its advanced horticultural sector. The World Horti Center aims to boost cooperation between Dutch and Chinese horticultural sectors, focusing on three key areas: matchmaking, sector promotion, and talent development.
Puck van Holsteijn, CEO of World Horti Center in the Netherlands, shared, “The World Horti Center has received numerous requests for international collaboration. Our partnership with China is now officially underway, and we’re proud of the progress we’ve made in a short time. Now, with the center open, our focus will shift to developing a clear program of activities that will benefit our Dutch partners in China.”
Shandong Province, covering 110,000 hectares, is a crucial region in China’s horticultural sector. Situated between major cities like Beijing and Shanghai, Shandong offers a strategic location for further development in Chinese horticulture. The region’s growing demand for innovation and sustainable technologies makes collaboration with Dutch companies a natural fit.
