China’s flower export value experienced a significant rise of 11.5% in the first two months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to the China Flower Association. This increase reflects the country’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its trade relationships globally.
In total, China’s flower export value reached 103 million U.S. dollars between January and February 2025. The overall flower trade, including both imports and exports, reached 782 million U.S. dollars in 2025, marking a 10% year-over-year growth.
The growing appeal of China’s floral economy has attracted international florists, with the recent 27th Hortiflorexpo IPM Shanghai event showcasing flowers from around the world.
The three-day event, which concluded on Saturday, featured approximately 700 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries, including major flower-exporting nations such as the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, the UK, and France.
These international exhibitors displayed a vibrant array of flowers alongside their Chinese counterparts.
Many overseas exhibitors emphasized the importance of the Chinese market, highlighting how the country’s expanded flower trade benefits their businesses. Indrik Valli, an international flower exhibitor, remarked, “We are working in 60 countries around the world, but China is one of our biggest countries to export.”
Richard, an exhibitor from the Netherlands, also expressed confidence in the Chinese market, saying, “Of course, there are many people in China. We can be interested, I think.”
The positive growth in China’s flower exports not only showcases the country’s strengthening position in global flower trade but also underlines its growing role as a key player in the global floral market.
