Flower lovers, rejoice! London’s Saatchi Gallery is reopening its hit exhibition, FLOWERS – Flora in Contemporary Art & Culture, for a special summer season, running from May 30 to August 31.
Thanks to public demand and support from Cazenove Capital and Buccellati, the gallery invites visitors to enjoy the beauty and power of flowers as seen through modern art.
Spread across two full floors and nine themed rooms, the exhibition brings gardens to life indoors. It includes paintings, photos, sculptures, fashion pieces, films, and even virtual flowers! Whether you’re an art fan, a flower enthusiast, or just curious, there’s something blooming for everyone.
Paul Foster, Saatchi Gallery’s Director, said, “We’ve been amazed by how much people loved FLOWERS. It brought joy and wonder to so many. We’re thrilled to welcome visitors back.”
At the entrance, a huge 50m² flower mural by British artist Sophie Mess paints a journey from calm blues to fiery orange, symbolizing growth and transformation.
In Room 1: ROOTS, visitors can explore how flowers have inspired artists from the Renaissance to the modern day. From scientific studies to dreamy Impressionist pieces and bold Pop Art, flowers have always played a special role in art.
Room 2: IN FULL BLOOM shows the creativity of artists from around the world in the last 40 years. These works reflect how flowers help us understand life, beauty, and nature.
Room 3: FLOWERS IN FASHION features beautiful items by Buccellati and other designers who turn petals into wearable art. You’ll see how flowers shape trends in clothing, jewelry, and even tattoos.
Room 4: PHOTOGRAPHY & SCULPTURE displays stunning photos and creative 3D floral forms, capturing nature in stillness and movement.
The breathtaking Room 5: LA FLEUR MORTE includes 100,000 dried flowers by artist Rebecca Louise Law. Visitors walk through a floral world that celebrates beauty, death, and renewal—like stepping into a dream garden.
Room 6: FLOWERS IN MUSIC, FILM & BOOKS explores how flowers appear in pop culture. Look for familiar images from movie posters, album covers, and book art, where blossoms often express love, mystery, or magic.
Room 7: VIRTUAL GARDENS introduces digital blooms that respond to your movement. Created by Miguel Chevalier, this playful garden blends technology with nature and shows why preserving biodiversity matters.
Room 8: SCIENCE OF FLOWERS takes a closer look at floral healing powers, poisons, and nature’s math. In partnership with the Chelsea Physic Garden, this space also features rare botanical illustrations and floral art.
Room 9: NEW SHOOTS is all about fresh talent. It’s a secret garden of new artists who use flowers to explore life, death, joy, and beauty in exciting ways.
The gallery is bursting with colorful work from artists like Damien Hirst, Vivienne Westwood, Pedro Almodóvar, and many more. Some pieces are even for sale!
