Hyde Park, London – Hyde Park’s expansive garden nursery, managed by The Royal Parks, has initiated a commendable endeavor to redistribute surplus plants to local charitable organizations. The nursery, responsible for cultivating an array of bedding plants and flowers adorning the parks, including the iconic floral displays outside Buckingham Palace, often produces an excess due to the unpredictable nature of plant growth and weather conditions.
In an effort to ensure these surplus plants find purposeful homes, The Royal Parks has announced an open call for applications from community groups and charities situated within the vicinity of Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, or Camden. Eligible applicants encompass local charities, community organizations supporting individuals with limited access to plant resources, or non-fee charging schools.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to acquire free plants during designated collection periods in June/July and October/November. This initiative not only fosters community engagement but also promotes sustainability by repurposing excess flora for the benefit of the local environment and its inhabitants. Interested parties are encouraged to apply promptly to avail themselves of this generous offering from Hyde Park’s nurturing hands.
