In 2021, Buckin’ Blooms opened its doors in the bustling shopping center located off Herndon and Willow avenues. The name choice holds a special significance, honoring the city it calls home.
Owner of Buckin’ Blooms, Codi Dunn, shared her inspiration behind the name, saying, “We live in Clovis, right — we’re in this cowboy town. I grew up out in the country around rodeo, cows, horses and livestock and all of that. My family has been involved in rodeo and it’s just part of Clovis.”
Dunn’s knack for understanding the sentiments behind floral arrangements shines through in her work, whether she’s crafting a wedding bouquet or aiding a family in commemorating a loved one’s life.
Recalling a recent funeral, Dunn recounted, “Her dad was very manly, wasn’t big into flowers, but they wanted a nice piece for him. I said to bring me his boots, don’t even clean them. Just bring me a pair of his boots. She dropped them off, I put them into a wreath with the dust still on them from the last time dad had worn them, and she just said that was an amazing part of his service.”
Buckin’ Blooms’ visually striking arrangements and diverse gift options cater to every member of the family, drawing customers to its storefront.
Moreover, Buckin’ Blooms now offers a mobile flower bar, bringing the creative experience directly to customers’ doorsteps. “I always say it’s like a paint night but with flowers,” Dunn explained, highlighting its appeal for special occasions or a fun night out with friends.
Dunn’s talent for floral arrangement also spurred her to establish a nonprofit initiative called “Blooms for Babies.” She emphasized, “It’s not just for sick or ill children — it’s for kids going through a hardship. God gave me a talent to do this, so if I can use my talent to help someone else, that was my goal.”
The initiative began with assisting a family whose baby was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Proceeds from a bouquet fundraiser were entirely dedicated to easing the family’s unexpected financial burdens.
Reflecting on the impact, Dunn shared, “They were able to pay an extra bill at home or take her to the beach and put her little toes in the sand during all of these times. That’s what’s really important.”
