Police in Gateshead, North East England, have uncovered and dismantled a cannabis farm housing over 700 mature plants. The discovery was made following reports of suspicious activity in the Derwent Street area of Chopwell on Monday.
In addition to the large quantity of plants, law enforcement officers also uncovered substandard living conditions believed to have been utilized by individuals caring for the cannabis crop.
According to Northumbria Police, the seized plants carry an estimated value of £350,000. Investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend those responsible for the operation.
Inspector Harninder Bola praised the efforts of the police team, describing the discovery as a significant achievement in their ongoing efforts. He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting any suspicious activities to assist law enforcement efforts.
