Kelowna Garden Club’s 100th Anniversary Flower Show Approaches

by Anna

The Kelowna Garden Club is preparing for its 27th annual Flower Show, set to take place later this month. This year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, June 29, will not only showcase a variety of floral displays but also commemorate the club’s 100th anniversary since its founding in 1924.

The free event will be held from 11 am to 3 pm at Guisachan Heritage Park. Visitors can look forward to over 150 entries across various categories, including horticulture, flower arrangements, potted plants, and children’s displays.

Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to listen to speakers, watch demonstrations, and participate in workshops. ‘Master Gardeners’ will be on hand to answer gardening questions. Additionally, the event will feature floral art displays, arts and crafts vendors, and a guided walk and talk with Don Burnett, a well-known figure in Kelowna’s gardening community.

The Kelowna Garden Club, established a century ago, aims to foster interest and knowledge in gardening and the cultivation of plants and flowers. According to the club’s website, they achieve this through monthly meetings with guest speakers, lectures, flower shows, garden tours, excursions, and workshops.

“We are an active, friendly group with a wealth of information and fun activities to share. All ages are welcome, and we offer both individual and family memberships,” states the club.
