Residents of Jersey Cheshire Home to Join Battle of Flowers Parade.
Residents from Jersey Cheshire Home (JCH), a care facility for individuals with disabilities, will participate in Jersey’s Battle of Flowers parade on August 9. Stanley Baudains, Irene Hamon, and Dina De Jesus will ride in decorated wheelchairs as part of the celebrations.
In addition to the main parade, the residents will also take part in the Moonlight Parade on August 10. They will be dressed to match the theme of “Party Time” at Jersey Cheshire Home.
Stanley Baudains expressed his excitement about the event, stating, “It is quite exciting to be part of it, and more of us should get involved.” He has collaborated with JCH staff and volunteers to prepare his wheelchair and costume. “Our decorations and outfit designs are a bit of a secret, but I can say they will be quite bright and very much in a festive party theme,” he added.
Aileen Landers, the activities coordinator at JCH, noted that it has been a busy time preparing for the event. She expressed gratitude for the many volunteers who have offered their time to help. “It is all about getting our residents involved in the Battle of Flowers because they are part of the community too. It is a special time for everyone,” Ms. Landers said.
This year’s event is expected to draw thousands of attendees.
