Geneva Botanical Garden Hosts Workshop on Extinct and Endangered Plants.
Geneva’s Botanical Garden is offering a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of extinct and endangered plants through their herbaria. Participants will investigate species that no longer exist on the planet, those that have vanished from specific regions, and plants known only through fossils.
This workshop is part of the “Ateliers verts” series, which aims to engage children in the wonders of botany. Every Wednesday afternoon, young participants are invited to join in on themed investigations, sensory explorations, and botanical discoveries. The activities are designed to be both educational and enjoyable, fostering a deeper appreciation for the plant world.
These workshops take place within the garden’s living collections and are led by a dedicated team of curators, gardeners, and scientists. The program also benefits from the support of volunteers from Uni3, Geneva’s University for Seniors, ensuring a rich and collaborative learning experience.
