Minister G.R. Anil Launches ‘Chaitrolsavam 2024’ in Nemom Block.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM – The Nemom block panchayat is ushering in this year’s Onam celebrations with a vibrant display of flowers. In preparation for the festival, marigolds (Chendumalli) are being cultivated across 65 acres in seven grama panchayats within the block.
On Monday, G.R. Anil, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, inaugurated the harvest at a four-acre site near Santiniketan School in Vilappilasala. The initiative, named ‘Chaitrolsavam 2024,’ aims to boost the local flower market for Onam.
The event was presided over by MLA I.B. Satheesh. Alongside the floriculture efforts, the block is also focusing on extensive organic vegetable cultivation this year.
Attendees included Block Panchayat President S.K. Preeja, Vilappil Panchayat President Lilly Mohan, Vice President D. Shaji, Additional Director (LSGD) Balagopal P.C., Principal Agricultural Officer Anilkumar S., Assistant Director of Agriculture Siji Susan Varghese, and Agriculture Officer Jayadas.
