Officers executed a search warrant at a commercial property on Staden Lane at 12:30 PM on Monday, September 2. During the operation, they discovered and seized over 800 cannabis plants.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of cannabis production. They have been charged and were remanded to appear at Stockport Magistrates Court on the morning of Wednesday, September 4. The suspects, Dorjan Kaca, 30, and Ledjan Papajani, 39, both without fixed addresses, were further remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court (Minshull Street) on October 9.
Sergeant Patrick Haley from the Buxton Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team expressed gratitude to the local community for their ongoing support in identifying and dismantling large cannabis operations. He urged anyone with concerns or information regarding drug misuse to report it.
Signs that cannabis may be grown in a property include:
1. Unusual smells and sounds
2. Frequent visitors at odd hours
3. Gardening equipment being brought into the property, such as plant pots, fertilizer, fans, and industrial lighting
4. Sealed or covered windows, or curtains that are always closed
5. Unusual heat coming from an adjoining property
