Rehoboth Art League Announces Inaugural Native Plant Sale.
The Rehoboth Art League will host its first Native Plant Sale on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event, which celebrates the organization’s horticultural heritage, will feature a full day of activities focused on the advantages of native plants and garden design. The event is free and open to the public.
Attendees will have the chance to purchase native plants from local nursery partners Bella Terra and the Inland Bays Garden Center. Experts from Delaware’s Master Gardener and Master Naturalist programs will be on hand to offer advice and answer questions. Topics will include the benefits of native plants, identifying invasive species, soil testing, tree identification, integrated pest management (IPM) practices, lawn replacement options, and rain garden creation.
The day will also feature workshops, tours, and informational sessions. At 11 a.m., a free workshop titled “Benefits of Native Plants” will be led by a Sussex County Master Gardener. Although the workshop is free, registration is required due to limited seating. Interested individuals can register at rehobothartleague.org/events.
Additionally, two guided tours of the Homestead Garden, designed by the league’s founder Louise Corkran in 1931, will be offered at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The tours will include a visit to the art league’s new native plant demonstration garden.
At noon and 2 p.m., participants can join the Master Naturalist Keystone Tree Walk to learn about the value of native keystone trees and observe invasive species on the RAL’s 3.5-acre campus.
