Daily Acts and The Resilient Landscapes Coalition are hosting a workshop on September 21 focused on creating fire-resistant landscapes. The event will provide tips on maintaining healthy landscapes that protect homes and boost neighborhood biodiversity.
The free workshop begins with an indoor presentation at the Cavanagh Center, followed by a brief walking tour showcasing fire-safe landscaping methods. Santa Rosa – Expert to Discuss Native Plant Gardening
On September 14, native plant expert Betty Young will lead a talk on gardening with native plants at the Laguna Environmental Center. The session will cover garden planning, soil preparation, plant selection, irrigation needs, and maintenance.
Young, with 40 years of experience in native plant nurseries, has managed the California Native Plant Society Milo Baker Chapter nursery for the past decade. She previously worked with the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is the author of “Sonoma County Native Plant Gardener” and “The Nursery Manual: The Science and Art of Growing Plants for Habitat Restoration.”
