Volunteers Plant Over 100 Trees in St. Paul.
On Saturday, volunteers gathered in St. Paul to plant more than 100 trees in local homes and parks. This initiative was organized by Urban Roots, a nonprofit organization focused on enhancing community environments and providing internships in environmental fields for youth in St. Paul’s east side.
The primary aim of this project was to improve the tree canopy in the east side, which has been reported to be less dense compared to other areas of the city. Environmental experts emphasize that a robust tree canopy offers significant advantages for urban areas, such as reducing air pollution and helping regulate temperatures.
“It’s an essential aspect,” said Sam Mockert from Urban Roots. “There’s a lot of funding available right now for tree planting in our community, which is wonderful because it hasn’t always been this way.”
