Free Trees Available for Those Who Will Plant Them

by Anna

Residents of Lincolnshire are invited to sign up for free trees and plants during National Tree Week. Farmers, landowners, and community groups can receive up to 50 trees or 250 hedging plants.

These plants will help capture carbon, provide wildlife habitats, and reduce flooding. Collection events are scheduled for November 25-26 in Boothby Pagnell and Market Rasen.

Lincolnshire County Council has organized the initiative and will distribute packs of tree saplings, including small-leaved lime, hornbeam, English oak, field maple, wild cherry, hawthorn, and hazel. They will also provide stakes, tree guards, canes, and spiral guards for the hedging kits.

Councillor Colin Davie stated, “Tree planting is part of our commitment to a greener Lincolnshire. Trees and hedgerows are vital for capturing carbon, providing wildlife habitats, enhancing biodiversity, and helping to prevent flooding.”

The tree collection events are as follows:

Boothby Wildland Lodge, Boothby Pagnell: Monday, November 25

Willingham Woods, Market Rasen: Tuesday, November 26
