UT Tyler Celebrates Arbor Day by Planting Over 60 Trees

TYLER, Texas — The University of Texas at Tyler marked its seventh annual Arbor Day celebration by planting over 60 trees on campus. This yearly event, held on Saturday, brought together students, faculty, and community members to promote environmental care and enhance the beauty of the campus.

Volunteers at the event received a free T-shirt designed by Anna Parkins, a ninth-grade student at UT Tyler University Academy. Andy Krause, UT Tyler’s executive director of facilities and management, highlighted the personal and lasting impact of the day.

“One of the amazing things about Arbor Day on our campus is the opportunity to leave a legacy,” Krause said. “I’ve planted several trees myself and remember where each one is. Students, faculty, and staff involved today can return years from now and see their trees still beautifying the campus.”

In addition to the campus plantings, UT Tyler University Academy has plans to continue the tree-planting initiative by planting trees at Tyler Junior College later in the fall semester.
