The Frankfort Tree Board has once again received a $3,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Community Street & Boulevard Tree Planting Grant Program, managed by the Michigan Forestry & Park Association.
This fall, the grant supported the planting of 15 trees in public spaces across the city. The selected tree species include Black Gum, Linden, River Birch, Maple, Tulip, and Sweet Gum. These trees were planted in seven locations throughout Frankfort, with a focus on the “Right Tree, Right Place” approach to avoid interference with overhead utility wires. The trees were planted on James, Forest, Leelanau, Corning, and 10th Streets.
