FAIRFIELD, Calif. — Fairfield police have closed down eight homes used for illegal marijuana cultivation, confiscating a total of 8,234 plants.
The police department’s Code Enforcement Unit issued citations totaling $4.1 million related to these properties over the past three to four months, according to a post on social media Saturday.
Some of the grow houses were located near Gary Filat Neighborhood Park. Police confirmed that all eight properties were linked to Chinese nationals.
While marijuana use is legal in California, authorities warned that indoor grow operations present significant risks. These include potential fires from electrical overload, as well as hazards from chemical substances and unsafe structural modifications.
