Bengaluru Couple Shares Balcony Plant Photos on Facebook, But End Up Arrested—Here’s Why

by Anna

A Bengaluru couple was arrested after a Facebook video revealed two ganja plants growing in their balcony garden. Social media users flagged the plants, prompting the police to investigate. On November 5, authorities raided the couple’s home in MSR Nagar, seizing 54 grams of cannabis and 17 flower pots, two of which contained ganja.

The couple, Sagar Gurung, 37, and Urmila Kumari, 38, originally from Namchi, Sikkim, initially denied the allegations but later admitted to cultivating the plants. Upon further search, police discovered the discarded plants in a nearby dustbin.

Authorities are now investigating whether the plants were grown for commercial purposes and if there is a larger network involved. The couple, who face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, have been released on bail while legal proceedings continue.
