Suntory Flowers Limited has acquired its Dutch partner MNP (Moerheim New Plants) as part of its plan to grow its business in Europe. The acquisition means MNP will now operate under the name Suntory Flowers Europe B.V.
The new division aims to strengthen Suntory’s position in both bedding plants and fresh cut flowers. The partnership between Suntory Flowers and MNP dates back to the late 1980s, when they introduced Surfinia, the first petunias grown from cuttings. Since then, MNP has played a key role in branding Surfinia and introducing new varieties.
Together, the two companies have developed popular products like Sundaville/Sun Parasol and Senetti.
“We’re excited to launch Suntory Flowers Europe and accelerate our expansion in Europe, our most important market,” said Suntory Flowers President Yasunori Yomo. “We believe our flowers can transform and enhance the cities of Europe.”
Jeroen Egtberts, formerly of MNP, has been appointed president of Suntory Flowers Europe. He sees the union as the next step in a successful partnership. “This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter. It’s the result of years of dedication from our employees, partners, and customers,” he said. “We are committed to maintaining the quality and innovation that have made MNP a leader in the industry.”
The leadership team also includes Munenori Inagaki, who oversees Suntory Flowers’ European business operations.
