A flower delivery service based in Long Island has shut its doors after facing thousands of complaints related to canceled orders and unprocessed refunds.
Customers from across the United States have reported that their orders through SarataFlowers.com were frequently canceled, but refunds were never issued, despite promises sent via email. One frustrated customer, Celia Silberman, shared her experience with CBS News, describing the situation as a “nightmare.”
Silberman had ordered a $61 bouquet for her sister’s 90th birthday last fall. However, the company told her that her order couldn’t be completed. When Silberman attempted to get a refund, the process dragged on for months.
“They just made it so miserable for me,” Silberman said. “It’s still a nightmare because they’re still not doing anything to refund the money.”
Silberman isn’t alone. Many others have also expressed their frustration with SarataFlowers.com. The company accumulated 2,286 complaints with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in just three years, leading to an “F” rating from the organization.
Claire Rosenzweig of the BBB explained that a quick online search would show a pattern of delays and cancellations, with customers consistently dissatisfied.
While SarataFlowers.com claimed to operate from an address in Suffolk County, the building’s owner told CBS they were unfamiliar with the company. The business website has now been taken down, and Silberman’s refund has been processed. However, the company did not respond to CBS’s request for comment, though it did mention that its florists were unable to meet customer expectations.
