Petrick’s Flowers To Close After Over A Century Of Service

by Anna

Petrick’s Flowers, a beloved flower shop in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, is preparing to close its doors after more than 100 years of serving the community. The family-run business, which has been a cornerstone of the city, will be serving its customers for the last time ahead of Valentine’s Day.

The shop was originally established in 1910 by Rudolph Petrick, who had emigrated from Austria-Hungary. The business was then passed down to his son, Andrew, and later to his grandson, William Petrick. William Petrick recalls helping out at the shop as a child and has been running it since the 2000s.

Over the years, Petrick’s Flowers has become an integral part of the community, providing flowers and plants for weddings, funerals, and other special occasions. As one local resident noted, the shop has been with families for generations.

William Petrick has announced that the shop will be closing later this year because the building has been sold. His children are also pursuing their own individual paths. Although there is no official closing date, it is expected to be sometime after Mother’s Day and Easter.
