The Challenge Center is enhancing its Bay Produce program by introducing spring flowers to its greenhouse, in addition to its well-known fresh vegetables. This new initiative aims to have flowers ready for purchase in time for Mother’s Day.
Mark Kroll, the Director of the Challenge Center, explained that the Bay Produce program is designed to teach pre-vocational skills to individuals with disabilities. He emphasized that diversifying their offerings allows them to engage more effectively with the community.
Kroll noted that the addition of flowers will create valuable learning experiences for growers with learning disabilities. The mission of the Challenge Center focuses on assisting community members facing challenges in finding employment and achieving independence. Participants will have the chance to develop essential skills while interacting with customers purchasing these flowers.
The introduction of bedding plants, hanging plants, and porch pots represents a significant opportunity for those served by the Challenge Center, furthering their mission of growth and community connection.
