For more than 50 years, The Flower Box has helped customers express life’s deepest emotions—love, sympathy, joy, and gratitude—through thoughtfully crafted floral arrangements, lush plants, and heartfelt gifts.
Nestled in the heart of downtown Georgetown, this family-friendly shop continues to serve as a trusted local destination for moments both big and small.
The Flower Box was founded in 1972 by Patricia Taylor. Decades later, its spirit remains alive under the leadership of co-owner Deniese O’Neill, who purchased the shop alongside her husband, Jim O’Neill, in 2011 from former owner Susie Ramos.
A florist’s daughter with over 30 years of experience in the floral industry, Deniese O’Neill grew up surrounded by blooms. She joined The Flower Box team in 2003, starting out as a counter helper and delivery driver before rising through the ranks.
“I just love making people happy,” O’Neill said. “Flowers are ancient. They’ve been around forever, and they’ve always told a story.”
With over five decades of history in Georgetown, The Flower Box has become part of many families’ personal stories. O’Neill often hears from returning customers who recall purchasing their prom corsages at the shop years ago—and now return to buy flowers for their children.
“We put our heart into everything,” she said. “Each thing has a meaning. We’ve made flowers for weddings, anniversaries, funerals, and more. Some customers come back year after year. We know their stories. We know what they want to say—and that’s special.”
While known for its stunning floral arrangements, The Flower Box offers much more. Customers can browse a wide selection of gifts suitable for any occasion—housewarmings, weddings, sympathy offerings, or simple thank-yous. Items include live plants in all sizes, wine, home décor, and candy.
Patrons can stop in to select their own flowers, place orders for pickup or delivery, or even ship floral gifts internationally.
“My motto is: ‘We love to create what your heart wants to say,’” O’Neill said. “No matter what the occasion is, that’s what we’re here for.”
