Naivasha, Kenya – The 21st edition of the Naivasha Horticultural Fair concluded on Saturday, marking the end of a two-day event that drew flower growers and horticultural enthusiasts from near and far. With over 250 exhibitors showcasing their products and services, the fair maintained its reputation as a premier gathering in the industry. The fair’s success was amplified by favorable weather conditions, with dry and sunny skies gracing the outdoor event.

According to Chairman Richard McGonnell, the fair continued to assert its international presence, welcoming key players from both the national and international horticultural landscape. McGonnell remarked, “From greenhouse manufacturers and breeders to plastic producers, chemical suppliers, fertilizer providers, solar innovators, water solutions specialists, and freight logistics experts, the event featured a comprehensive array of industry stakeholders.”

The Naivasha Horticultural Fair has long been cherished for its relaxed atmosphere, a tradition upheld in this year’s edition. Attendees seized the opportunity to reconnect with acquaintances they might not have seen since the previous year while enjoying beverages and refreshments. Following the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the fair experienced a surge of renewed interest.

What sets this event apart is its commitment to local causes, particularly those centered around women and children. Chairman McGonnell elaborated, “All the profits from Naivasha Horticultural Fair go to local causes, mostly based around the Woman Child. We have actively contributed to the construction of Nyamathi Secondary School, complete with classrooms, clinics, and water harvesting facilities. Additionally, we have established the Naivasha Safe House, a refuge for abused children.”

The fair serves as a platform for a diverse range of stakeholders within the horticultural industry, encompassing not only the flower sector but also automobile manufacturers, accessory suppliers, financial institutions, and more, as depicted in the accompanying image.

Looking ahead, the 22nd edition of the Naivasha Horticultural Fair is already on the horizon, scheduled to take place on September 20 and 21 next year. With a legacy of international acclaim and a commitment to supporting local causes, the fair is poised to continue its pivotal role in the horticultural community.
