Hanneke Frankema: Sustainability took center stage as the primary theme of the championship and my demonstration. It was a significant focus for both participants and myself. I showcased various ways to reuse components in floral arrangements, emphasizing the importance of waste reduction.
Q: What preparations did you make for the event?
Hanneke Frankema: I completed all my preparations in my studio, ensuring that a significant portion of the components I used in Slovenia were reusable. For me, reusability means being able to remove the flowers and utilize the base again. On-site, I added the finishing touches to my arrangements and shared tips with the live audience.
Q: Could you elaborate on the role of Cymbidium orchids in your arrangements during Eurofleurs 2023?
Hanneke Frankema: Cymbidium orchids held a central place in all my arrangements. I demonstrated that working with an entire stem can make a powerful impression. Additionally, I showcased how to utilize two-thirds of a stem and create small, commercially savvy mini-arrangements with individual flowers. The versatility of Cymbidium was evident in all my floral creations, with its colors and exquisite shapes shining through.
