HAWE, a pioneering force in mobile cultivation systems, is commemorating its 65th anniversary, marking a remarkable journey of innovation and transformation in internal greenhouse logistics. Since its inception in 1958, HAWE has been a driving force in revolutionizing greenhouse logistics and consistently pushing the boundaries of the sector.
It all began in 1958 with a simple yet groundbreaking concept: work should come to the people, not the other way around. This fundamental idea led to the introduction of the very first container tables for greenhouses.
One of the remarkable aspects of HAWE’s story is its close collaboration with growers. Growers have continually challenged HAWE to develop innovative solutions by posing questions and suggesting ideas. This synergy has given rise to exceptional and innovative sector solutions.
HAWE made its international debut in the early 1970s when it exported the first electric trolley, with Germany leading the way as the pioneer market. This move opened doors to new markets and opportunities, expanding HAWE’s influence beyond national borders. In 1975, HAWE successfully executed its first major, large-scale project, showcasing its ability to handle complex logistics challenges and solidifying its reputation as a reliable sector partner.
The 1980s witnessed the introduction of various technological innovations. HAWE became a trailblazer in creating integrated mobile logistics systems by replacing traditional relay systems with PLCs, resulting in more efficient and flexible systems to meet the evolving needs of customers. In 1985, HAWE achieved another major milestone by using its vacuum-forming machine to produce plastic grow tray bases, ultimately introducing the ebb and flow systems known today. Additionally, multi-layer cultivation systems (MLS) made their debut, optimizing the use of light, water, energy, and space.
In 1994, HAWE pioneered bulb-growing innovations with mobile applications, enhancing growers’ cultivation flexibility and boosting productivity. The year 2004 marked another significant advancement as gutter systems were employed to make cut flower cultivation mobile, enabling flower growers to optimize production processes.
HAWE has since evolved into an architect of smart cultivation systems, with a strong focus on mobile gutter and container systems. These versatile systems cater to various crop types in agriculture and floriculture.
HAWE remains committed to assisting growers in addressing challenges related to climate control, water scarcity, labor and energy costs, and sales. HAWE’s systems ensure optimal plant density, efficient space utilization, robust crops, and precise climatic control. These modular systems can be expanded and adapted to grow with any project, a concept known as “Moving Growth.”
In 2022, HAWE became part of the KUBO Group, a company with nearly 80 years of horticultural experience. Earlier that year, KUBO acquired Peter Dekker Installaties and later SDF Horti Software, further enhancing its capabilities in the horticulture sector.
