This collaborative endeavor is set to expand the availability of Chrysanthemums, benefitting flower growers across the African continent.
United Selections, renowned as a global rose breeder in the flower industry, will represent Icon Selections, a Chrysanthemum breeder known for its exceptional varieties cultivated under 12/12 conditions, in facilitating commercial activities throughout Africa. This partnership is poised to revolutionize the African flower market by offering a wider array of Chrysanthemums to local growers.
As a testament to their commitment, Icon Selections will establish a dedicated selection shophouse, showcasing an extensive collection of captivating cut Chrysanthemum varieties. Additionally, a propagation area will be set up to accommodate trial requests, conveniently located at United Selections’ primary facilities in Nakuru, Kenya.
The official seal on this agreement was placed during the recent Proflora event held in Bogota, Colombia. The partnership was formalized with a handshake between Jan Haaksman, the Managing Director of Icon Selection, and Jelle Posthumus, the CEO of United Selections. This significant moment marks the commencement of a promising collaboration with far-reaching implications for the availability of a diverse range of Chrysanthemum varieties.
