The floral landscape is witnessing a transformation with the emergence of unique roses known as ‘Garden roses,’ a trend that has gained momentum in recent years. One standout member of this floral evolution is the Hot Pink Mayra’s® rose, a vibrant creation from the Mayra’s Rose® family, as revealed by Juan Requena of Continental Breeding, the breeder behind these distinctive blooms.
Continental Breeding embarked on the journey of Mayra’s rose breeding in 2015, aiming to craft a garden rose that surpassed its counterparts in production and shelf life. According to Requena, their mission was not only accomplished but exceeded expectations, giving rise to a family of roses with eight captivating colors.
The latest addition to this floral family is the Hot Pink Mayra’s rose, distinguished by its unique bloom and captivating color. Requena emphasizes the significance of its hue, aligning with Pantone’s choice for the color of the year 2023, ‘Viva Magenta.’ Described as vivid, intensely powerful, and sophisticated, the Hot Pink Mayra’s rose stands out as a distinct flower in the floral palette.
Requena highlights the high productivity of the Hot Pink Mayra’s rose, producing 130 flowers/m² in soil and 169 flowers/m² in hydroponics. Beyond its vibrant hue, the rose boasts strong phytosanitary resistance, adding to its allure.
The availability of Viva Magenta, the captivating color of Hot Pink Mayra’s, extends throughout the year, with several farms cultivating this exceptional variety. Flores La Mana from GHT and Elite Flower in Colombia, among other major companies in Ecuador, have embraced this wonderful variety, ensuring its presence in assortments across the globe. As the floral world evolves, the Hot Pink Mayra’s rose stands as a testament to innovation and beauty, capturing the essence of the ever-changing preferences in the world of blooms.
